Professional Indemnity Insurance for Freelancers, Companies and Service Providers
Professional Indemnity for Digital Professions offers comprehensive protection against liability claims from third parties, for example customers who suffer financial losses as a result of your professional activities. In addition, the insurance can be extended with optional add-ons to cover selected first-party losses and other specific business risks. Unlike classic general liability insurance, the focus is on protecting you against pure financial losses arising from your professional activities.
For insurance protection tailored to your individual business risks, Professional Indemnity for Digital Professions is based on a modular structure:
Optional: First-Party Cyber and Data Risks Insurance (FPC)
Optional: Engineering Activities (ENG)
The Financial Loss Insurance also includes the defence against unjustified liability claims, including the associated legal costs.
Damage in the areas of IT, consulting, media and service providers often leads to a financial disadvantage (i.e. financial loss) for the customer or another third party (e.g. programming errors in merchandise management software, incorrect advice, infringements of rights, etc.). From an actuarial point of view, this involves financial losses. Financial Loss Indemnity Insurance (FLI) is the most important component of professional indemnity insurance.
Professional Indemnity Insurance for Digital Professions was designed according to the principle of blanket coverage for your profession. As a result, all your activities and the associated liability risks as a freelancer are insured, unless they are explicitly mentioned in one of the insurance exclusions. A complete list of the insured risks (so-called coverage catalogue) and individual activities is therefore not necessary. This is particularly advantageous for project-dependent work and changing areas of activity as well as for expanding the range of services.
Overlapping Areas of Activity also Insured
Service providers and freelancers seldom limit their work to classic activities, but also provide customers with advice. They often also take on media work such as graphic design or website construction.
In order to guarantee comprehensive insurance protection for these activities as well, the resulting risks are covered in the exali.com insurance conditions.
Add-ons:
In order to adapt the insurance coverage individually to your business model, exali’s professional indemnity insurance offers freely selectable additional add-ons.
1. First-party Cyber and Data Risks Insurance (FPC)
The insurance covers first-party claims related to hacker attacks, DoS attacks, cyber extortion, computer abuse, theft of media or devices, and any other data rights infringement.
The extension for engineering activities provides blanket coverage for supporting and advisory engineering services. This includes, for example, the development of plant hardware, machine and plant testing, technical drawings and design (CAD, CAM), support for the commissioning process and the preparation of technical reports.
